In Valberg, we live in the mountains in a sustainable way
The Valberg resort is the only one in the Southern Alps to have the Flocon Vert label designated by the Mountain Riders association. We talk about it with Oriane Mathiaud and Marie Baehr from the Valberg Tourist Office.
During this winter period, many people from the Côte d’Azur are used to going up to the mountains on weekends to ski, hike on snowshoes, or simply get some fresh air and see the snow. So how do you ensure that these moments of pleasure are the least damaging possible for nature? A Valberg, the life of the resort has been organized since 2018 around the Flocon Vert label. This label was developed in 2015 by the association mountain riders, specializing in education for ecological transition. The objective is to identify and highlight mountain destinations that have ambitious policies in terms of environmental protection and sustainable development. However, Valberg is the only resort in the Alpes-Maritimes and even in the Southern Alps to have obtained the Flocon Vert label.
Energy savings and waste management
More discreet public lighting, intramural electric shuttles, an energy renovation project for housing, etc. Several promising initiatives have been taken in terms of energy savings, mobility and waste management. On this specific point, we can cite, for example, the major collection days organized once or twice a year on the slopes and in the village of Valberg. In addition, there are daily operations, such as the collection of small waste such as cigarette butts, batteries or pens. For Valberg, the ecological transition is also played out in public awareness and education. In this mountain resort where tourist activities vary with the seasons, environmental commitments are valid all year round.
Oriane Mathiaud and Marie Baehr, from the Valberg Tourist Office, are our guests.
