Frankfurt / Main – The Dax hovered around 16,000 points on Wednesday. The data on price developments in the USA, which were as expected, only reassured investors for a short time after some market participants feared an even more pronounced increase in prices.
The German benchmark index rose by 0.34 percent to 15.96.17 points in the afternoon. The MDax gained 0.90 percent to 34,958.00 points, the Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 climbed by 0.81 percent.
In addition to the corona pandemic, the prospect of rising interest rates is a latent negative factor for stocks. The fact that inflation in the US reached its highest level in 40 years in December and now rose to 7.0 percent was expected and has therefore already been factored into the exchange rates.
RWE is growing
Among the individual values in the Dax, the shares of RWE as one of the top values with a plus of 1.8 percent attracted interest. Teamviewer moved into focus with preliminary annual figures The shares of the specialist for remote maintenance software in the MDax shot up by 17 percent to 13.50 euros. The company now reported strong sales growth.
Siemens Healthineers lost 0.8 percent in the face of negative news from competitor Philips. Delivery problems and provisions hailed the Dutch medical technology group in the final quarter. In addition, there were moving analyst comments: for the shares of Hochtief, for example, the SDax fell by 2.9 percent.
The euro jumped the $ 1.14 mark according to US inflation data and traded at $ 1.1409 in the afternoon. The European Central Bank set the reference rate on Tuesday at 1.1336 (Monday: 1.1318) dollars. On the bond market, the current yield rose from minus 0.18 percent the previous day to minus 0.17 percent. The Rex field bond index rose 0.04 percent to 143.46 points. The Bund future expanded its gains in the early afternoon and climbed 0.27 percent to 170.34 points.
