Kazakhstan and Lithuania have important trade relations: they have named their value
The consequences of the protests and violence in Kazakhstan may have spread to Lithuania. Until now, this Central Asian country has been an important trading partner of Lithuania, Info Day reports.
“We see a very rich country. Very, I would say, developed compared to other Central Asian countries and receiving full pajamas. According to last year’s data, Kazakhstan’s gross domestic product could have reached about 170 million years ago. A country that is very rich in mineral resources, on the other hand, people who can make ends meet, so one could expect one or another social tension. All the more so as social exclusion is also growing, “said Vytautas Naudužas, the former ambassador to Kazakhstan.
According to him, Kazakhstan has been surrounded by Russia and China and Islamic countries in the south, both before and now. All these countries have done and are doing great damage. Russia’s interest was clear – not to allow Kazakhstan to move from Cyrillic to Latin characters in 2025, not to allow it to pursue an independent foreign policy. Although the previous president managed to maneuver not only between China but also Russia and have good relations with the members of the European Union. Among them is Lithuania.

According to V. Naudužas, economic interests dominate in the bouquet of Chinese interests. “It simply came to our notice then. Because Kazakhstan is rich in various metals – not only non-ferrous, ferrous, but also rare. Their investments were astronomical. “Over 260 billion economic years have been invested in Kazakhstan,” he said.
Speaking about Kazakhstan’s relations with Lithuania, the former ambassador emphasized that trade relations between our country and Kazakhstan are very strong. A few years ago there was a record – up to 1.8 billion in total trade turnover.
“It is about as much as Kazakhstan trades with Belarus and more than Kazakhstan trades with Poland. But even today, the volume remains at around 1.2 billion. We are visible not only because of the very embassy, we are also the Consulate General and nine honorary consuls. So the connections were really comprehensive – not just economic but also cultural. This year we had to launch direct flights from Almaty to Vilnius, “said V. Naudužas.
