Creative Prague is looking for a new location for the Prague Chairs & Tables project in the 2022 season

The project for the revival of the Prague chairs & tables will be the realization of the space for the seventh time this year.

Until January 20, 2022, cultural citizens, associations, institutions or other organizations interested in placing new furniture for the public in their vicinity can apply for the open call.

“Prague chairs & tables are a unique and popular project in public space. It has been very popular since its inception and interest is growing rapidly every year. I am glad that the furniture is not only located in the historical center, but that Praguers can also use it in housing estates and outside the central part of the city, ”says Hana Třeštíková, Councilor of the Capital City of Prague. m of Prague for culture, exhibitions and tourism.

Iconic black chairs and tables appeared in the record 86 places of the metropolis last season. Residents and visitors to Prague could sit on a chair in the city streets, squares, parks or cultural and community spaces. The Prague Chairs & Tables project was established in 2016 and was created on the premises of the Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital City of Prague. m of Prague. It currently operates under the direction of Creative Prague – a registered city institute dedicated to the conceptual development of culture and the support of cultural and creative industries.

“In Creative Prague, we bring more cultural and community elements to the project, which originally had the task of providing, in particular, the opportunity to provide Praguers in public space and to supplement some missing functions. The diverse and accommodating public space is closely related to culture, and we will continue in this direction in Creative Prague, ”adds Petr Peřinka, director of the organization.

This season will also bring several expansions. In selected places, chairs and tables have also been supplemented with loungers – for example, in the St. Agnes Monastery or on the island of Štvanice, this novelty has proved very successful – and therefore the number of loungers will increase this year as well. Another novelty last year was winter operation, where in some places they have remained so far and people can use it all year round. This form of the project will continue this year as well.

The public and various organizations or associations can also get involved in the seventh season, which can help expand the map of places where people can sit on Prague chairs & tables. The application form can be filled in on January 20, 2022 on the Creative Prague website HERE.
