A convention for the forests of the Metropolis
The Rouen Normandie Metropolis and the National Forestry Office have signed a new agreement covering the period 2021-2026.
The ONF and the Rouen Normandie metropolitan area signed a new agreement on January 5, 2021 covering the period 2021-2026. The opportunity to recall that the Rouen Normandy Metropolis enjoys an exceptional location with a forest belt “which has no equivalent in France, nor perhaps in Europe”, according to the territorial director of the ONF, Eric Goulouzel . This asset in terms of quality of life and attractiveness is also a major issue in terms of ecological transition.
The convention defines the areas of competence and actions for the two parties who intend to strengthen their cooperation. It also determines the methods of monitoring and governance of this partnership. Within the framework of this agreement, the Metropolis and the ONF will continue and amplify their partnership with the ambition of the following objectives:
- The well-being of local populations
- The high quality of life and the attractiveness of the territory
- Prevention against global warming and its consequences
- The valuation of wood in the most local possible uses
- A high level of dialogue and collaboration
- Transparent information on forest management.
These objectives, broken down into several axes, do not reach operational and detailed actions in the Territorial Forest Charter and the Exceptional Forest® project contract:
- Forests to recharge your batteries, cultivate yourself, get involved
- Ecological and social transition around sustainable forest management
- Operational and collaborative governance between the Metropolis and the ONF.
