The Chcípl pes movement convened further demonstrations throughout the Czech Republic, the main one will be in Prague

Prague – The Chcípl pes movement convened a demonstration this weekend against the decree on compulsory vaccination against covid-19 for selected professional groups and people over 60 years of age. Six of them will take place on Saturday in various cities around the country, the main event is scheduled for Sunday on Prague’s Wenceslas Square. Next week, two more demonstrations will take place in Prague and one in Pilsen. Representatives of the movement told reporters today.
Demonstrations will take place on Saturday from 14:00 in Brno, Olomouc, Karlovy Vary, České Budějovice and Ústí nad Labem, in Bruntál the event will start at 16:00. On Sunday, the participants will meet at 14:00 on Wenceslas Square and a march on Hradčanské Square will follow. The following Sunday, January 16, a similar demonstration will take place in Pilsen, and on Tuesday, January 11, the movement convened a demonstration on Malostranské náměstí against the government’s planned amendment to the crisis law.
The chairman of the movement, Jakub Olbert, said today that more cities will be added and Chcípl pes will convene the protests until the government cancels the vaccination decree. According to him, the movement will also support demonstrations on Malostranské náměstí on Tuesday, January 18, for former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) to be extradited by the Chamber of Deputies to prosecute. The criticized decree approved the former government and introduces mandatory vaccinations for medical staff and medical students, social workers, firefighters, including volunteers, soldiers and their active reserve, and police and city police officers or customs officers. These groups must have completed vaccination by February 28. The new government of Petr Fiala (ODS) wants to amend the decree and remove at least the obligation of vaccination for the elderly. Olbert called the pressure from the institutions on the employee or students concerned as blackmail.
The event at today’s press conference is represented by Václav Hrabák, who declined the doctors who refuse compulsory vaccination. According to him, about 1,900 doctors have signed it so far, and there were over 80.00 people in total. He added that there were also declarations of nurses, members of the integrated rescue system, students and lawyers. According to him, the spokesmen of all declarations are planning a joint press conference on Friday. Today, the demonstrations are also supported by Jaroslav Kužel, Deputy Director of the Milovic Municipal Police, and Anet Hlinčíková, Deputy Matrix Student Initiative.
The Chcípl PES initiative was created as a protest against measures restricting the operation of restaurants. As a political movement, we will open the Czechia – Chcípl PES then ran in the parliamentary elections, in which the movement won 0.4 percent of the vote. After the election, dozens of small groups and parties began to take part in its events, sharing a critical view of the government’s actions. According to police estimates, 10,000 people gathered in Prague’s Old Town Square for a demonstration organized by the movement last November.
