Prague – On Friday, tests in the Czech Republic confirmed 4992 cases of coronavirus, almost 3,000 more than a week ago. But it was Christmas Day and less was tested. The first week-on-week growth since December 1 is so skewed by comparing the working day with the holiday. The number of people with covid-19 in hospitals, which numbered just over 3,000, continued to decline. The last time it was lower was in early November. It follows from the information on web Ministry of Health.
To date, the number of newly confirmed diseases per 100,000 inhabitants has increased to 336 in the last seven days, on New Year’s Eve, ie on Friday, the incidence was 308. Last year, tests in the Czech Republic confirmed more than 1.74 million cases of coronavirus. The hospital had about 111,000 infected, more than 24,000 died. In total, during the epidemic since March last year, hygienists recorded 2.48 million cases and 36,182 people died with covid-19. The daily number of deaths with coronavirus has remained below 100 since 19 December, with 23 deaths reported so far on New Year’s Eve.
On Friday, hospitals cared for 3,010 people with covid-19, a week earlier there were almost 3,500. There were almost a fifth of serious patients in a week, 582, at least as of mid-November.
The laboratory performed over 42,000 tests on New Year’s Eve, and a week ago on Christmas Day there were a total of about 25,000 antigen and PCR tests. Of that, the number of conclusive PCR tests increased by two-thirds to Friday’s 6900. The relative positivity of the tests remains high. In diagnostic tests, which test people with symptoms of the disease, the infection was detected on Friday in a quarter of the samples. In epidemiologically indicated tests, for example for contact with the infected person, almost 14 percent of the samples are positive.
Healthcare professionals in the Czech Republic have so far given 15.47 million doses of covid-19 vaccination, and 6.65 million people have completed vaccination.
