If environmentalists have decided to slow the pace of construction in Lyon, there are still some major operations to complete in 2022. Overview
Port Herriot goes green
40 million euros – AREP Architects
While the concession granted to the CNR (Compagnie Nationale du Rhône) expires in 2023, the Édouard-Herriot port will confirm its greener transformation in 2022. Work on the logistics hotel will intensify for delivery scheduled for 2023. This hangar should make it possible to store goods in the 7th district before they are delivered to stores by electric vehicle. A change in the logistics of the last kilometer which has already been initiated with the Quai des Energies and which will also be used on rivers in 2022. The CNR will discover a river shuttle between the Herriot port and the Morand bridge with the objective of moving 40 tons of goods every day. The packages will then be delivered by bicycle to traders on the Presqu’île.
L’île O, a floating theater on the Rhône
2 million euros – Koen Olthuis
The project is still floating a bit, but the children’s theater on the banks of the Rhône could open in 2022. The O island is still the subject of arbitration. The ecological majority has never hidden its reluctance to urbanize the rivers of Lyon. The promoters, the Patadôme d’Irigny team, are finalizing the new version of their project which is to be installed near the Gallieni bridge.
The end of the Place Saint-Antoine soap opera
Finally ! After nearly ten years of work delayed by archaeological discoveries, the new Saint-Antoine esplanade should be delivered in 2022. The underground car park has already been inaugurated. In 2024, the lower port will complete the redevelopment of the Saint-Antoine quay.
