Lots of people, even more police
Despite the ban on fireworks, the year 2022 was greeted with rockets, firecrackers and sparklers in Frankfurt. At midnight, numerous people gather on the banks of the Main and on the bridges that were not closed.
Mild temperatures, a relaxed atmosphere
According to a police spokesman, there were no major incidents and it was largely peaceful. The police were on the move with numerous emergency services throughout the city center. The mood was mostly relaxed and peaceful, with some dancing in the streets.

In mild temperatures, many people were out and about in the Zeil shopping street, similar to summer evenings. A long queue formed in front of the Gibson Club, all seats were sold out, according to an employee. According to the Corona regulations, it was not allowed to dance in the discotheque, but catering was allowed.

Quiet use: Most people show understanding.
Small groups were out and about in the old town and on the Main bridges, although the alcohol level initially remained low. Even when the Eiserne Steg was closed for five hours at 10 p.m., most went back to the bank without protest. “If it stays that way, it will be a problem-free night,” hoped a policeman at the locked bridge.

The city of Frankfurt had banned firecrackers and the launching of rockets in the city center and other areas where a large number of people usually come together to greet the new year. These include the banks of the Main, Alt-Sachsenhausen and the Bahnhofsviertel. Police awaited many people to die in these hot spots.
Vier Bad Vilbeler makes the most of the Corona measures and organizes their New Year’s Eve dinner with camping chairs, folding table and handcart in the open air. “Starter at the Alte Oper, main course at the Römer and dessert on the banks of the Main,” they revealed their plans. At midnight, a little waltz was announced on a Main Bridge in front of the skyline.
