The incident happened at a house in the Albert Cuypaan in Haaksbergen. A man was working there with a hammer, a type of device that you can use to cause explosions by dropping the hammer on an explosive powder. The man then hit on magnesium powder, which gave a good one.
Just when three boys walked by, things went wrong. A boy who died died, another boy was seriously injured and, according to one of the parents, was resuscitated on the spot. Nothing is known about the condition of the other third boy, and the ages of two children were also unknown.
The two are fully part of a cost of three guys. They were bystanders and not themselves working with a hammer or fireworks, the police said. Officers have first aid until the arrival of ambulances. The investigation is still ongoing and the police are urging people to come forward.
Neighbors say there was a small neighborhood party. “It concerns four families,” someone told RTV Oost. “According to tradition, she sets up a tent with a fire pit, in which she burns the waste afterwards.” The mayor of Overijssel, Rob Welten, called the event “horrible and dramatic”.
