According to firefighters, the largest increase in fires is in the first hours of the new year. At the beginning of 2021, Prague firefighters intervened in 18 fires related to fireworks. Grasslands, waste containers, ornamental shrubs or things on balconies burn most often. Recently, the detonation has been set on fire and there have also been cases of burnt-out flats into which lit flares have flown.
Thanks to alcohol, people stop being vigilant and handle pyrotechnics incorrectly. There is also a suitable selection on the spot, the recommendation for the purchase is clear – we only buy such pyrotechnics, which are listed legally on the Czech market, it has the manufacturer’s instructions for use in the Czech language and a certification mark. Never take pyrotechnics damp or open.
Principles of handling pyrotechnics:
- Be careful not to endanger your health or property when using fireworks. do not forget that according to Act No. 133/1985 Coll., on fire protection, everyone must act in such a way that they do not cause a fire. Otherwise, the firefighters may be fined up to CZK 25,000.
- It is necessary to handle the pyrotechnics in an open space, at least 100 meters from the dwelling, so that, for example, flares cannot penetrate the windows, the roof of houses, cars or bushes can be ignited.
- Fireworks must not be handled by minors without adult supervision.
- Be sure not to fire pyrotechnics if you have consumed alcohol. It happens that instead of going into the air, a drunk person targets the passers-by or dwelling because he does not maintain the prescribed direction of pyrotechnics discharge.
- Also pay attention to the sound effects of firecrackers. Firecrackers are not fire hazardous, but they may be inappropriate to blow your hearing.
- If you want to make more fireworks happy, please keep in mind that only a professionally qualified person can do so. So trust their realization by experts or go to the fireworks organized by your community.
Rules for celebrations in Prague
