2021 RETROSPECTIVE: A look back at the month of July
The month of July 2021 in the rearview mirror of Infos Dijon: from the installations of the Department and the Region to the first demonstrations of opponents to the health pass.
On July 1, the installation session of the Côte-d’Or departmental council saw François Sauvadet (LCOP) reappointed at the head of the community (read our article). Two novelties: for the first time in the history of the Department, a woman is appointed first vice-president, in the person of Emmanuelle Coint (LR), while a vice-president position is delegated to François-Xavier Dugourd , number 2 of the Department in protocol order.
On July 2, Marie-Guite Dufay was, in turn, re-elected as president of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regional council during the installation session. Among the vice-presidencies, there are nine socialists, three various left, two ecologists and one communist (read our article).
This closes the cycle of local elections which began in 2020 with the municipal elections. From the summer of 2020, the pre-campaign for the 2022 presidential election begins with numerous ministerial visits to Côte-d’Or.
On July 7, SEMOP Odivea, the public service representative of Dijon Métropole responsible for supplying drinking water to the inhabitants of the Dijon metropolitan area and for wastewater treatment, launches into energy production. Odivea receives 5.5 million euros from France Relance, out of 15 million euros of investment, to build an anaerobic digestion unit that will treat sewage sludge. In 2023, Odiva will produce biomethane (read our article).
On July 10, at the time of the big departures of the summer holidays, Rodolphe Sire, head of the Operational Traffic Safety Department of the Paris-Rhin-Rhône motorways, presents the new APRR motorway headquarters located in Saint-Apollinaire. 24/7, APRR agents watch over the 1,300 km of the motorway network in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Objectives: prevent, inform, but also help in order to make traffic as smooth as possible all year round and during holidays

On July 12, the first shovels were given for the demolition of the Kir bridge, corresponding to the start of a redevelopment of Boulevard Chanoine Kir and an upgrading of Avenue du Lac. The operations of phase 2 of the urban renewal of the Fontaine d’Ouche are announced until April 2022 (read our article).
On July 12, in the pouring rain, the official launch of the horse station at the Arc-sur-Tille leisure center takes place. Since 2011, the gendarmerie has organized regular patrols of the lake and its surroundings with the assistance of the Republican Guard (read our article).
On July 13, the valiant participants in the civil and military parade of the National Day brave a torrential rain to survey the Cours Général-de-Gaulle in Dijon. Brigadier General Édouard Hubscher, commander of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté gendarmerie region, and Colonel Samuel Morice, corps commander of the 511th Train Regiment, review the troops (find our report).
On July 14, umbrellas are required to attend the National Day fireworks display on the shores of Lake Kir in Dijon. The show is based on the theme of gastronomy (find our report).
On July 16, a visit to the Saint-Bénigne cathedral site in Dijon is organized. A building which has been the subject of work since the end of 2019 and which will run until 2022. 2.6 million euros are devoted to the renovation of the cathedral as part of the France Relance plan (read our article).
On July 16, traveling to Dijon, Olivia Grégoire, Secretary of State for the Social, Solidarity and Responsible Economy, points out that the Food Bank of Burgundy receives 100,000 euros under France Relance to acquire two refrigerated vehicles and a tank elevator (read our article).
On July 19, Nadia Hai, Minister of the City, brought to Dijon Métropole funding for two “Prevention Battalions” of 12 full-time equivalents for 18 months in Dijon and Chenôve. In addition, the Metropolis and certain municipalities are financing the deployment of a specialized prevention service with 12 full-time equivalents (read our article).
On July 20, the preview of “Kaamelott-Premier Pôle” held a thousand fans at the Darcy and Olympia cinemas. Alexandre Astier’s film takes advantage of a street in dark rooms on the eve of the introduction of the health pass to access cultural places.
On July 21, the director of the MuséoParc Alésia presents the brand new scenography which gives pride of place to the excavations of the site of the Alésia headquarters in -52 BC and which integrates digital mediation systems (read our article).
July 21, launch of the third edition of the Image Sonore festival at the MuséoParc Alésia. Despite the health crisis, the festival is establishing itself in the cultural landscape of Auxois by offering concerts of baroque, contemporary and electro music.
On July 24, a demonstration by opponents of the health pass and the vaccination against Covid-19 brought together a thousand people in Dijon. Taking the model of the yellow vests, demonstrators will continue to march on Saturday without causing the support of the population to their arguments (find our report).
On July 27, farmers from the Saône plain as well as representatives of the Chamber of Agriculture and the State take stock of the floods on the outskirts of Seurre. Farmers question the waterproofing of soils in urbanized areas and demand a revision of the water law (read our article).
