SCA will install microwave consistency measurements at Ortviken’s mill in Sweden
Valmet will supply eleven Valmet Microwave Consistency Measurements (Valmet MCA) to SCAs Ortviken’s use in Sweden. The mill is currently being converted from papermaking to market pulp. The consistency measurements will be installed in the new line of chemo-thermomechanical pulp (CTMP) to control the process reliably. The measurements will be delivered during the first quarter of 2022.
Valmet Microwave Consistency Measurement measures the overall consistency of the pulp process stream regardless of fiber length, freeness, wood type or blend. The measurement is not affected by flow rate, brightness or color and enables better control for more efficient production, improved quality and financial savings with fewer process disruptions and less product of unclassified quality. It offers a wide consistency range (0-16 Cs%) for various applications in the pulp and paper industry. The sensor is easy to install and requires no regular maintenance, which keeps start-up and operating costs to a minimum.
