Hanover region approves additional funds for energy-efficient sports facility renovations
REGION
The regional assembly clears the way for additional funding for the energetic renovation of sports facilities for clubs of the regional sports association Hanover. “Really great news and at this time it feels a bit like getting presents ahead of time. The decision shows us that our consultations and sport-political discussions with those responsible at the Hanover region pay off for everyone in the end. Clearly, we appeal to all of our clubs to deal with the retrofitting – if they haven’t already done so, “is the current reaction to the sports policy team at the Hanover Regional Sports Association from managing director Anna-Janina Niebuhr and chairman Ulf Meldau, both of whom are responsible for advising on sports facility construction funding are.
After the committees for the environment and climate protection (end of November), schools, culture and sport (beginning of December) and the regional committee (mid-December) had voted in favor of the funding, the regional assembly has now finally decided to release the funds. All in all, the RSB clubs that have applied for funding to convert their sports facility lighting to energy-saving and environmentally friendly LED light for the coming year have an additional 276,222 euros at their disposal. – This sum was estimated by the regional administration for the necessary increase in the funding budget in order to guarantee 90 percent funding.
According to experts, sports clubs can save more than 50 percent of their energy costs by converting their lighting systems to LED technology. And the relief benefits both, the club’s treasury and the environment. In the end, everyone wins. And that is rewarded: in the best case scenario, 90 percent funding is now available for converting the lighting to LED.
Recently, Mann sent a circular email to all clubs to draw attention to the topic of energetic renovation, and shortly before the festival there was even a candy from the Hanover region, which makes dealing with the topic even more attractive for clubs.
Thanks to the funding, nine clubs decided last year (2020) to convert their lighting to LED. This year there was another increase with 18 conversions. The clubs are primarily converting their floodlights to LED. However, there are also isolated retrofitting measures for the outdoor and hall lighting.
At no point in time has it literally been cheaper to deal with the topic: In addition to the general increased willingness in society and politics to invest in the topic of climate protection, the current corona situation sometimes unintentionally creates new capacities to address the topic right now .
Anyone who has an energetic renovation system on the club side within the next two years should use the time now and get in touch quickly for energy / lighting advice.
