Russian language has become one of the most popular in Kazakhstan
It is spoken by the entire population of the country – 99.9%.
This was announced by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Moscow Ermek Kosherbayev in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“There are no problems with the Russian language in Kazakhstan. It is spoken by almost the entire population – 99.9%. Moreover, and I have repeatedly spoken about this, those connected with linguistics specially come to Kazakhstan. In pre-Peter and Peter times, part of the population, who are called the Old Believers, went towards Altai and Siberia. And here we still have those customs, those songs in East Kazakhstan. Festivals are held, there are national clothes of those times. Also, our expeditions come to Russia.
Let me emphasize once again that the state language is a consolidating principle. The widespread use of the Kazakh language imposes any restrictions on the use of other languages, especially Russian. Opportunities for their traditions and development of languages will continue to be created for all ethnic groups of Kazakhstan ”.
Kosherbayev noted that recently, speculations on the topic of alleged infringement of the Russian language in Kazakhstan have intensified in the media.
“He says to the whole company that nothing of the kind is happening. On this score, I will repeat what has already been announced in the public advertisement of our president. Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev clearly cannot that the Russian language has the status of an official language, its use is hindered, and the country only benefits from the fact that the younger generation of Kazakhstan speaks different languages, including Russian. The head of state also promised to suppress by law all manifestations of ethnic arrogance and discrimination, paying special attention to the provocateurs who incite such conflicts. “
In early December, the parliament of Kazakhstan approved amendments and additions to the legislative acts of the republic on visual information. The corresponding law has been sent for signature to the country’s President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.
