The current situation and the current development of the epidemic continue to be affected by the community spread of coronavirus, specifically the delta variant, which has the ability to partially break down vaccination and at the same time increased the possibility of transmission. In addition, there are now real concerns about the community’s dissemination of new omicron variants, which should be two to four times more contagious, and breaks in vaccination are even more likely.
Furthermore, according to Councilor Milena Johnová, it is necessary to attribute the seasonal effect, ie respiratory infections and a high number of risky contacts in the indoor population in the autumn and winter, where the probability of risk is higher than in outdoor exposures. A significant risk is the permanent and permanent spread among vulnerable groups of the population. And insufficient vaccination of the population is enough.
“We want to ensure safety in homes for the elderly without now preventing families from meeting their loved ones during the holidays. Therefore, together with the regional hygiene station, we issue recommendations to protect especially clients of homes for the elderly and staff, and we ask the public to understand and comply with all measures when visiting their loved ones, “says Milena Johnová, Councilor. m of Prague for social policy and healthcare.
With regard to all risk factors of the metropolis together with the Hygienic Station of the capital. m Prague for seniors to improve caution during the visit at the same time to comply with the following recommendations.
1. Carry out antigen tests at all visits to the elderly, regardless of their vaccination status. That is, always at each visit with a frequency of once a calendar day.
2. Restrict visits to children, in the case of visits to children, perform examinations by antigen tests on children from 3 years of age.
3. Visits have a respirator throughout their stay in nursing homes.
4. Admit visitors with visible signs of respiratory infection in exceptional situations and always only with a PCR test not older than 24 hours.
“Due to fears of community spread of the omicron variant twice, the main infectivity is about up to four times higher than the delta variant, which now predominates in the population, we, in cooperation with the city, issued recommendations for Prague homes for the elderly to improve prudence. It is mainly about antigen testing of all visitors before entering the facility, or restrictions on visits, especially of children, “adds Zdeňka Jágrová, director of the Hygiene Station of the capital. m of Prague.
