Gros (ODS): Prague 8 was against raising the price for municipal waste collection
23.12.2021 8:35 | Press Release
The council approved a new decree of the capital city of Prague for the collection of municipal waste. Prague 8 was against.
From next year, Roasted will pay extra for waste collection. The representatives of the capital approved an increase in the fee for the collection of municipal waste. The councilors of the Prague 8 district did not agree. “I am not currently in favor of raising fees. In addition, I am strongly concerned that this will lead property owners, cooperatives and SVJs to reduce their collection frequency or reduce the number of containers in an effort to save on waste. And as a result of a bigger mess in the street, “notes Mayor Ondřej Gros (ODS).
Roasted currently pays for the collection of waste from 25 to 75 pennies per liter, depending on the size of the container and the frequency of collection. From January 1, 2022, however, a uniform rate is to be introduced for all – fifty pennies per liter. As a result of the change, the price will rise in direct proportion to the size of the bins. This will affect residents of housing estates the most, who pay up to twice the current annual amounts. Due to the fact that the majority of the inhabitants of Prague 8 live in apartment buildings or housing estates, the highest increase will fall on these citizens. So far, the house that has the largest containers with a volume of 1,100 liters with collection three times a week has paid about 46,000 crowns a year. According to the new decrees, it should be 85 crowns new. According to the submitted proposal, this per capita is about 421 crowns more per person per year.
The City District of Prague 8 submitted a negative resolution to the draft decree by https://www.praha8.cz/appo/usn/676?usn=vqJLeXkiIQyieMrG7m5AAw==
However, the capital city of Prague did not accept the disagreement of the Prague 8 district. The administration of the waste collection fee is a matter for the City of Prague. m of Prague, not the city district of Prague 8. Basic information on the method of payments, calculation and its maturity can be found on the website http://zastupitelstvo.praha.eu/ina/tedusndetail.aspx?par=16520300601400922621620id=22401400992226213400926262134032162021440321620214
At the same time, the Prague 8 City Council did not agree with the increase in the residence fee proposed by the City of Prague. Prague 8 councilors believe that tourism is still in deep decline due to the coronavirus pandemic and do not consider the fee increase to be the right way to go. Hl. the city of Prague has prepared an increase in the local residence fee from CZK 21 / day to a maximum rate of CZK 50 / day from the new year. This is an increase of 138%.
