The Prague 5 City Council today approved the budget for 2022. According to him, the city district will manage an amount exceeding one billion crowns next year. The budget was prepared by the new Finance Councilor Jan Kavalírek (TOP 09), with the biggest savings in the Office’s operating expenses in history. This represents a reduction in current expenses by 99 million crowns, ie by 12.8 percent.
“I want us to have a lean, efficient and modern office that will manage with the utmost care so that as much money as possible remains for the investment and development of our Prague 5. For this reason, we have been working for the past ten months to introduce major austerity measures in operation. office and together with colleagues they went through item by item. We evaluated from the point of view of efficiency and need for the given expenditures, “Councilor for Finance Jan Kavalírek (TOP09) with the proviso that the town hall will save, for example, on office operations, consulting services, external staff, policy consultants, PR events, but also on cutting bureaucracy and number of officials. “It was really hard work, but I’m really happy with the result. We will now use the money saved for the development of our part of the city, for example in the field of education, public spaces and parks, or security, “adds Kavalírek.
Compared to this year’s budget, which was approved only in January 2021, the city district will enter the approved budget by 2022 and will not have to manage according to the so-called provisional budget. “Timely approval of the budget for 2022 allows us to make full use of all approved funds. Despite the savings, we managed to keep enough space for investment so that we could further cultivate our city district, infrastructure and services that we provide to citizens, “says the mayor of Prague 5 Renáta Zajíčková (ODS).
One of the largest investments in the city district should be the replacement of windows at the Barrandov Polyclinic for 42 million crowns. The revitalization of greenery and the area of Chaplin Square for 37 million crowns is also significant. The town hall is also preparing, for example, the reconstruction of sidewalks in Mrázovka Park, the school kitchen in Barrandov, the swimming pool in the Weberova primary school, the playground on the Hořejší nábřeží and other sports grounds. Prague 5 does not forget about the social area either. The town hall is planning to build two homes for the elderly – Poštovka and Hlubočepy. The repair of an apartment building in Elišky Pešková Street is also planned. “We will continue to repair sidewalks, but also participatory budget projects,” concludes the list of councilors for finance.
Planned revenues are planned 631 261 thous. CZK and expenses 1,045,755.2 thous. CZK. The deficit will be covered from the city district’s funds and from the funds of previous years. It is also planned to cover part of the investment and non-investment subsidies requested by the city district.
