Earlier in the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko noted that vaccination of adolescents aged 12 to 17 years from coronavirus will begin in Russia by the end of this year. Murashko also states that studies of a COVID-19 vaccine for children from 6 to 11 years old may begin in Russia in early 2022.
The danger of coronavirus for adolescents and the need to vaccinate was announced in early December by infectious disease doctor Andrei Pozdnyakov. According to him, the spread of the delta strain has led to the fact that adolescents have become more sick and less likely to recover from the infection. In addition, fatalities were recorded.
Vaccination of adolescents is needed to protect them from the severe course of infection and to protect others, for whom they can become a source of infection. There were moderate and severe cases of the course with lung damage.

“Live vaccine”
Scientists and doctors, as well as the World Health Organization (WHO), are warning of the dangers of the omicron strain of the coronavirus. WHO Representative in Russia Melita Vujnovich, in turn, said that the omicron strain of the coronavirus could become a “live vaccine” against COVID-19 and help defeat the pandemic. She noted that such an outcome is possible.
We have to wait at least a week and a half, so that we can say for sure … A big surge in a short period can lead to paralysis of the health care system. And this is what we fear
Vujnovic also expressed the hope that those who get sick with the strain will not have such a serious clinical picture as those who get sick with the delta. She expressed the hope that now there will be a drug that will be effective against omicron.
