Will the city of Toulouse host a school Central ? Thursday, December 9, 2021, the Groupe des Écoles Centrale (GEC) and the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (Toulouse INP) launched a “common reflection whose object is the creation of Centrale Toulouse Institut”.
At least one semester of reflection
Contacted by Toulouse news, the GEC recalls that it is starting “a project phase”. The reflection initiated with the INP will last at least one semester and “perhaps the year 2022”, the Groupe des Écoles Centrales. So it is not for now.
“This new establishment could consist of a central school training general engineers, and specialized schools. It would integrate all the current activities of the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse”.
The Groupe des Écoles Centrale is established in several large cities in France, such as Paris, Lyonnais (Rhône), Nantes (Loire Atlantique), Lille (North) and Marseilles (Bouches-du-Rhône) but also internationally (Beijing in China, Hyderabad in India and Casablanca in Morocco).
A “metamorphosis” of the INP
This “Centrale Toulouse Institute” project consisted of an “internal metamorphosis, studied by a redefinition of the offer, the courses, the missions of the teacher-researchers”, adds the GEC.
Regarding the premises of this future establishment, the GEC indicates that “INP Toulouse already has several locations (Toulouse, Auzeville-Tolosane and Labège, editor’s note), which will be kept. At this stage, there are no plans to add more ”.
The number of students that this establishment will be able to accommodate, if it sees the light of day, has not yet been defined. Currently, the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse trains 4,300 students and 420 apprentices.
