Győr – Attila Bernáth, who entered the ring of DVSC, and his cousin László Bernáth also finished second in his weight class.
The final program of the 98th László Papp Men’s Amateur Boxing National Championship in Győr, the best match of which was the super heavyweight final, brought most of the high-quality battles on Saturday.

We were also able to squeeze in for two DVSC wrestlers to win the championship at the adult Hungarian championship this year.
It is interesting that two Bernáths from Debrecen fought against two Virbán in the capital. Attila Bernáth clashed with Martin Virbán in 51 kilos, while his cousin László Bernáth (54 kg) competed with Gábor Virbán. The fate of the gold medal was decided by scoring in the lower weight group, with one category above by unanimous scoring – both times in favor of the brother-in-law of Bp. Honvéd.
Federal captain Róbert Bertók told MTI that in the +92 kilograms, Kiss Levente and Fehér Koppány were not only the best match of the day, but of the whole tournament.
“It was an international-class match, it would have been snapped anywhere in the world,” the manager described the day’s final match, which was won by Kiss Levente with a unanimous score.
The captain highlighted the finals of 51 and 54 kilograms in Debrecen. As he said, a big battle could be expected in these two categories in advance, and both clashes met expectations.
The most intense fight was brought by the 80-pound final, in which the eighth-finalist of the world championship finalist Pál Kovács was only one hair better than Máté Kis, who returned from the pros, and was outperformed by a 3-2 score.
“I am satisfied with the finals, and not only have the competitors performed well, but the judging is also working well. I feel we have managed to make progress in this over the past year as well,” said Róbert Bertók.
