Russia bans entry to seven British citizens – Politics
MOSCOW, December 17. / TASS /. Moscow, in response to the sanctions announced in August against seven Russian citizens, prohibits entry into the Russian Federation for a similar representative of Great Britain participating in anti-Russian activities. This is stated in the widespread Friday comments representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.
“In response to the unfriendly actions of Great Britain and on the basis of reciprocity, a decision was made to impose confidential sanctions against a proportionate number of British representatives, the principles are closely involved in anti-Russian activities.
The comments emphasize that the Russian Federation considers the anti-Russian attack by London to be unjustified “a practical confirmation of the government’s intention to continue the destructive course in bilateral affairs.” “We are compelled to state that the consistent unwinding of the sanctions flywheel-flywheel by the British authorities is not being undertaken on the basis of relations of various attempts to return interstate ones to a constructive channel,” the document says.
“Any unfriendly steps will remain without an adequate response,” Zakharova added.
On August 20, the British authorities imposed sanctions on seven FSB officers believed to be involved in the incident with Navalny. This is the second package of sanctions adopted by London against Russia in the wake of the Navalny incident. In October last year, the British authorities imposed restrictive measures against six Russians, including the first deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, and the director of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov.
Navalny was hospitalized in Omsk on August 20, 2020 after he became ill on board. Later he was taken to Berlin for treatment. On September 2, the German government issued a statement that Navalny had been exposed to a poisonous substance from the Novichok group. According to Berlin, these findings were confirmed by laboratories in France and Sweden. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly said that Moscow is ready for all-round cooperation with Germany.
