New members and deputies to the Norwegian Cultural Council
– The Norwegian Cultural Council plays a very important role in Norwegian cultural life, both as a manager of the Norwegian Cultural Fund and as an adviser on cultural issues. The council should have members with high professional competence in a broad field, and the council should have broad geographical representation. Both of these criteria are well taken care of in the new council, which will now have the job of distributing between in the Norwegian Cultural Fund from 2022, says Minister of Culture and Gender Equality Anette Trettebergstuen.
Five new members and three new deputies were today appointed by the Council of Ministers to the Norwegian Cultural Council for the period 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025. The Norwegian Cultural Council has a total number of members and a number of members as needed. Council members, including leaders and deputies are appointed by the King on the recommendation of the Ministry of Culture. The appointment is valid for a period of fire years and is rotating so that half of the members are appointed every other year.
– Interdisciplinarity characterizes today’s art practice and since the art field is constantly changing, we have emphasized that the council members must cover more art fields and the ability to see the whole field. I have also been concerned with a broader diversity perspective, says Trettebergstuen.
