The Russian Museum opened an exhibition of Malevich’s student – Culture
SAINT PETERSBURG, December 15. / TASS /. The State Russian Museum opened on Wednesday in the Mikhailovsky Castle an exhibition of the artist Anna Leporskaya (1900-1982), a student of Kazimir Malevich and wife of Nikolai Suetin. Leporskaya is known as a master of artistic porcelain, but she also created paintings and graphic works.

The exhibition shows sketches of porcelain sets and vases created by Leporskaya, and products embodied on them. Among them are a series of vases “Fugue”, a tea and coffee service of the “Drop” shape and a service with the painting “Sheaves” in which the influence of Malevich’s work is most clearly reflected.
As Petrova noted, it is also important for the Russian Museum because thanks to her, the museum collection has been replenished with a collection of works by Malevich and artists of his circle. In the summer of 2017, the collection of the Russian Museum received a donation collection of works by various artists, called the Leporskaya Archive. The archive includes over 600 works by Leporskaya herself: 512 drawings, watercolors, gouaches, 10 paintings and more than 100 porcelain items. Also thanks to this gift, the Department of Manuscripts of the Russian Museum received documents related to the life and series of avant-garde masters.
