The capital is addressing restrictions on the operation of the medical emergency waiting room at Thomayer University Hospital.
A series of agreed measures, consultations with the Prague hygiene management and material assistance ended the waiting for patients for treatment outside in the winter. At today’s meeting of the City Council In addition, a subsidy for the retrofitting of the waiting room was approved by the City of Prague, which should have the effect of impairing the motivation of patients to comply with anti-epidemic measures.
Patients of the emergency medical service for children as well as the dental emergency have repeatedly complained that they were forced to wait outside for treatment even in cold weather and often with a fever. Local survey carried out by the Department of Health of the City of Prague m Prague with the participation of Councilor for Health Milena Johnová confirmed the validity of the complaint.
The reason people had to wait outside before the emergency room was the concern of medical staff about the lack of respect for anti-epidemic measures by patients.
Therefore, a series of negotiations between the management of the capital city of Prague, the Thomayer University Hospital and the Pragomedica company operating medical emergency services have taken place since this summer. In addition to the last November meetings, representatives of the Hygiene Station m of Prague.
“We arranged a consultation of experts from the Hygiene Station of the Capital City of Prague at the hospital and we offered help that will increase the feeling on the part of the paramedics providing the emergency service. We have already supplied protective equipment and disinfectants, and at today’s meeting of the Prague Council we also approved a subsidy for the supply of air disinfection devices, a camera system and an information light panel, ”describes Milena Johnová, the city councilor for Health.
The material assistance of the city is in the amount of CZK 152 thousand and the subsidy for equipment was approved in the amount of CZK 123.7 thousand. The retrofitting of the waiting room should thus contribute to greater discipline of waiting patients and adherence to anti-epidemic measures.
“Everyone has to wear a respirator in the waiting rooms, children have a veil. It is optimal to keep the spacing wherever possible. It is also necessary to ensure air exchange and regular disinfection. However, confusing the outdoor area with a waiting room is not permitted. A child with the symptoms of covid-19 must be reported to the nurse and follow her instructions, “adds the director of the Hygiene Station in Prague. m Prague Zdeňka Jágrová.
The Department of Health of the Prague City Hall will continue to monitor the situation. An evaluation of the workload of the Prague emergency medical service is also being prepared.
