Prague wants to buy a complex from the state at the Hostivař dam
The Prague City Hall wants to buy a swimming pool complex near the Hostivař dam from the Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) for 52.2 million crowns. The town councilor for property Jan Chabr (TOP 09) told ČTK. According to him, the office is willing to sell the land to the city, now the municipality has to submit an intention to use it. The councilor added that the buyout would like to complete the election next autumn.
The area of the swimming pool is administered by the state in Prague 15, which, however, according to the deputy mayor of the city district, Václav Bílek (YES), did not have the money, so she turned to the municipality. “It doesn’t matter if it will have a city district or a city,” he told ČTK. He added that it would also be considered that the city would give Prague 15 a subsidy to buy and subsequently operate the complex.
According to Chabr, the city envisages a direct purchase, because the complex is city-wide and is used by residents of other city districts, such as Prague 11 and Prague 10. He added that the plan has already been approved by the Prague City Council and meetings with ÚZSVM representatives have already appeared. According to him, the city would prefer to exchange the swimming pool for other property, but the office insists on the sale. Now the municipality has the task of submitting an intention to use the area, which, according to Chabr, should happen in January.
“He does not want to repeat the mistake that happened in the case of Džbá, for example, because it is a unique natural locality in this part of Prague,” said the councilor, referring to the case of the recreational area around the natural swimming pool Džbán in Šárecké údolí. It was obtained in 2012 from the state-owned company in liquidation Pražská kanalizace as aqueous flows at auction company Molepo. In the end, she wanted to build up the land, which met with resistance from the locals and the City Hall of Prague 6.
