“For December, the month of contemplation and contemplation, Galerie Prádelna at the Prádelna Community Center has prepared a very interesting exhibition by renowned artist Pavla Vaculíková,” said Councilor JUDr. Petr Lachnit.
Mgr. Pavla Vaculíková was born in Zlín, graduated from the Faculty of Education in Ostrava and subsequently completed postgraduate studies in the clothing studio (Prof. Zdeňka Bauerová) and in the spatial studio of textile and alternative techniques (Prof. Adéla Matasová) at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. She worked mainly in southern Bohemia, where she led art studios and art workshops in Český Krumlov, České Budějovice and the surrounding area. He devotes himself to free creation, at the end of his own independent and collective exhibitions or participation in symposia in the Czech Republic and abroad, costume realizations for various audiovisual projects Apocalypse, in cooperation with the ensemble of medieval and alternative music Kviterna, etc.
In 2016, she moved to Smíchov, to a place opposite the Kinský Garden, where she also has her own studio. It was several moves during the short and for the artist it took time to find a relationship with the new environment again and to find a connection with the previous one. Due to a combination of circumstances, this autumn there was an opportunity to exhibit in the nearby Prádelna Gallery in Holečková Street.
The author herself describes the current exhibition: “I chose the work from different cycles and time periods, and thus connected some important periods personally for myself in one whole. The date of the exhibition until the time of calming, which December and January bring with them, also played a role, at least in some of our directions or desires to spend Advent and Christmas time calmer and gentler. That’s why I chose the Leporelo cycle for my son, a series of embroidered paintings, the so-called riddle. These are patient records of my son learning to know the world, but at the same time realizing how I understand the meaning of simple terms as an adult and how my son is only at the beginning, before gradually revealing the complexity or greater complexity of the terms. They contain symbolism, obvious only to adults, but still retain playfulness, fragility and tenderness for children’s eyes. “

Other exhibited works are paintings made of paraffin and wax from the Madonna 2014 cycle – the intersection of the symbol and the present, from the collective exhibition in the Zlatá Koruna monastery named in this way. It was also her farewell to the places where the artist spent almost twenty-five years of her life, specifically in Český Krumlov. The work was based on the exact dimensions of the Madonna of Zlatá Koruna, which at that time was part of the exposition of the monastery in Vyšší Brod. It was supposed to be a kind of her presence or an imaginary transfer to her original place. And finally, without the author’s knowledge then, this happened in reality, and today the Gothic Madonna of Zlatá Koruna is again in the monastery, according to which it bears its name.
In the end, she chose a few watercolors, linking records, cycling, connecting. She was already working on them here, in the Smíchov studio, after the last move, when she seemed to start discovering a new place and relationships from the beginning. “Something common and unifying should be ‘tenderly’, if present, shakes the ordinary human, and that’s how I would call this little exhibition,” adds the artist.
“The operation of Galerie Prádelna has been in full swing since the summer, and even in today’s uncertain times, it offers a very valuable and high-quality exhibition program. Pavla Vaculíková’s exhibition will not only bring a significant artistic and cultural experience, but also, with its message and poetics, will add a currently critically deficient emotion – something that is actually the very subtitle of the exhibition. In addition, she is another prominent artist who lives and works in our part of the city, which only underlines the community’s overlap as part of the community center. I believe that the situation will allow the exhibition to fully open and then visit all interested parties, ”invites JUDr. Petr Lachnit, Prague 5 councilor The exhibition will run until January 30, 2022, admission is free.
