ALL ANTWERP. “Many people are stuck with the white wall system… (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Anouk Taeymans (34)
“Five to ten years ago, almost all walls at home were painted white. Now a lot of people have white walls syndrome. They find it cold and bare and regret it. White can be quite harsh on your eyes.”
“I am an architect by training and I give interior advice to clients in my own business. We recommend painting walls with lime paint. This gives a subtle cloudy structure to your wall and brings your interior to life. For example, a warm light gray can be very soothing. “
“I try to make interiors warm and cosy. Now that it gets dark early, large windows without curtains are big black spots in your interior. As if it were black television screens on the wall. Semi-transparent curtains in the same shade as your wall, preferably linen, can make a room much warmer. Getting carte blanche from the customers is the best thing, then we can do what we want.”
“I did not study for interior architecture, but for civil engineer architect. The first years I thought the beach was how people can sometimes mess up an architectural project indoors by dressing it badly. I saw other possibilities for those interiors. I worked as an architect in Norway for four years and they are much more involved in interior design there. Then I came here and I was also asked for TV as a design expert. And that’s how I rolled into the world.” rvre
