State-owned housing in Monaco: the risk of a shortage around 2025?
With the delivery of several operations due at the end of 2022 / end of 2023 (1), more than 600 additional state-owned housing will soon be available to Monegasques. “These apartments should make it possible to absorb the current shortage and meet all the needs”, was satisfied the rapporteur of the bill, Balthazar Seydoux, citing the 400 unmet requests during the last commission for the allocation of state housing in October.
According to him, however, the delay in delivery of Operation Bel Air – 2027 instead of 2023 – could induce “A housing shortage situation between 2024 and 2026”.
“Also, elected officials ask the government to carry out intermediate programs that must be delivered during this period”, the rapporteur continues, citing three constructions: “A state-owned building with 60 housing units on the landholding of Monte-Carlo, where an EHPAD is planned; the operation known as Les Lierres / Nathalie for more than 40 housing units in the Annonciade district; the possibility of raising the Palais Honoria operation, which allows the delivery of around thirty housing units. “
“The elevation of the Palais Honoria is studied”
Response from the Minister of State, Pierre Dartout: “For Bel Air, the government to prioritize collaboration and consultation with the management of the CHPG to design the hospital protection works before starting this project. ” Objective: to limit the nuisance of dust, noise and vibrations in and around the hospital.
“With regard to the Honoria Palace, the possibility of raising the rear building of the future complex is indeed being studied. Finally, the EHPAD and housing project located on the so-called “ Great Britain ” plot, as well as the Les Lierres / Nathalie operation, have been initiated and all arrangements will be made for these operations to be delivered in soon as possible. About fifty housing units for each of these two operations, ie a total of approximately 100 apartments, could be delivered. “
