Special waste from San Marino, request to triple the achievement: now 10 thousand tons arrive. Aguzzi: “It will be only for a short time”
ANCONA – San Marino call, le Marche answer. The neighboring Republic asked the Palazzo for a hand to collect the Raphael waste which are already conferred in regional landfills, and the requests have been accepted, but limited to 2021 only. Now it will be up to the legislative assembly to give the definitive go-ahead.
the increase
An agreement has been in force between the two entities since 2013 which provides for the disposal and recovery of special waste products in the territory of San Marino: the modification proposal put forward on 23 February specifically provides for the increase from the current 3100 tons to 10 thousand as regards special waste destined for disposal, and from 5 thousand to 40 thousand for those destined for recovery. “There is talk of 10-15 trucks at most – says the Councilor for the Environment Stefano Aguzzi -. It is a good neighborly relationship with San Marino, which asked us for a hand because this year it had some problems due to Covid. An addition – only for this year – to the waste that is already regularly disposed of in our landfills in Tavullia, Pesaro and Urbino. I first consulted the Marche Multiservizi company to understand if there was this possibility and they gave me full availability ».
The knots to untie
A fixed-term aid, however, because as the regional offices specified in responding to the request, even in our region “the current plant situation shows a disposal deficit, particularly in the provinces south of the Marche region, so much so that the shares of waste specials available in the landfills of the northern provinces increasingly tend to assume a strategic role that goes beyond the mere vision of the provincial Optimal Territorial Area (Ato), benefiting the entire regional basin in accordance with the provisions of the current regional waste management plan ” . However, this plan will soon be revised and corrected. “At the moment – explains the commissioner -, the ATOs have approved the five area plans and, as a Region, we are carrying out an environmental impact assessment screening. On some, we will probably intervene with some adjustments. At first glance, they do not completely satisfy us ».
The announcement
At the same time, “a tender is also underway to identify the company that will have to draw up the new regional waste plan”. Three companies took part in the expression of interest and will now formulate the economic offers during the tender. A process that should end in January.
