Switzerland’s Valves introduces PFC-free DWR water repellent treatment
Recent developments in tissue technology have provided an opportunity to move away from the use of PFCs, which are known to cause unnecessary environmental costs. For the past two years, the company has worked closely with scientists, textile experts and dye works to find a DWR substitute for PFCs that does not compromise the quality of the fabric. Through rigorous testing in the laboratory and in the field, the new environmentally friendly PFC-free DWR continues to deliver the performance specifications relevant to end users, the company said in a press release.

Valves launched PFC-free DWR, the industry’s first water-repellent treatment of its kind made from renewable sources. The new finish contains 63 percent renewable ingredients that come from a variety of plant sources. The Switzerland-based company is known for its natural, weather-resistant cotton textiles that are sustainably grown and are durable and reliable.
