Prague on the Black Bridge has opened a large car park for almost 900 cars. There are also charging stations and places for LPG cars
If Prague has a pain, then it’s car traffic. There are too many cars, the streets are not inflatable and there are few parking spaces. However, instead of trying to solve the city in some way, it throws the feet of the drivers under the sticks. There are fewer and fewer lanes, more and more lanes, repairs and renovations are not over, and they are often desperately uncoordinated. It is no wonder that Prague is constantly congested. City officials often say that it would be ideal for commuters, thousands of them every day, to leave their cars on the outskirts of the city and to continue on public transport. But there is a catch, there are few P + R parking lots, we can only dream of parking houses.
But city officials seem to be aware of the problem. That is why they opened a large P + R car park on the Black Bridge on Wednesday, December 1. It is designed for both classic cars and gas cars, electric cars or special cars for the disabled. In addition, there are public chargers for electric cars and parking for cyclists.
Out of the total number of 886 seats, 89 seats are intended for gas cars, another 22 for the disabled and 18 seats for parents with children with a wider space for standing. Eight places will be used for charging electric cars and there are also 28 places for charging motorcycles. At the same time, cyclists will be able to store their bikes here in the lockable part, the total capacity for them is 38 seats.
“There are 886 new parking spaces for cars in Černý Most, which would otherwise have to continue into the city. This is one of Prague’s largest investments in P + R. The car park is just a few minutes’ walk from the Černý Most B metro station. Area and building P + R car parks are important transport structures within the city infrastructure. Every driver who parks on its outskirts on the way to Prague and continues by public transport travels to all of us for the better air we breathe in Prague. In Prague 14, we recently opened 101 stands in Chlumecká Street, 430 along Ocelkova, and this is another step in relieving not only the locals, but the whole of Prague. We are gradually working on projects of intercepting car parks and we will not finish until there are enough opportunities to park and change comfortably on public transport on the outskirts of Prague. That’s why we are starting to build a parking house in Nové Butovice in a week, “ described the deputy mayor of the capital. m of Prague for transport Adam Scheinherr.
The car park itself has been in operation since 1 December 2021 and drivers will pay CZK 50 per day or CZK 100 per night for parking vehicles and motorcycles, with opening hours from 04:00 to 01:00, bicycle parking is free of charge. If you are interested in having your electric car charged, you will pay the amount according to the PRE price list. On the spot, people can pay in cash, by card or MPLA.
The construction costs were approximately 500 million crowns and are partially covered by resources from the European Union.
