Prague – According to the prime minister, 465,000 people have reserved the deadline for vaccination against Covid-19 in the resignation of Andrej Babiš (ANO), and another 86,000 are waiting for him. In Prague, the wait for the deadline is the shortest. According to Babiš, however, it is still necessary to check the current capacity, extend the operating hours somewhere or get vaccinated at the weekend. He said this at today’s press conference in the O2 arena. According to him, the large-capacity vaccination center will not reopen there yet. The next plan is from December 13 in the Kotva Department Store, which will be the 80th vaccination center in Prague.
“We have a great challenge to vaccinate the third dose of 1,534 million citizens,” Babiš said today. According to him, vaccination capacities should increase to the level of June this year. According to Colonel Petr Šnajdárek, who is a member of the central management team, the current capacity in the vaccination centers is 110,000 doses without GPs or mobile teams. In total, there are 449 centers in all countries.
There are 79 of them in Prague so far, nine are operated by state hospitals. “First we will check the total capacity we have in Prague. We believe that there is still a lot of space in terms of capacity. They may have longer opening hours, vaccinate at the weekend, which some do not,” he added.
The vaccination center in the O2 arena was operated from May to September by the Central Military Hospital (ÚVN), where 660,000 doses were administered. However, its spokeswoman Jitka Zinke told ČTK last week that the hospital did not have sufficient staff capacity to take over the organization of the vaccination center again due to the care of patients with covid-19.
The Doctors Help the Czech Republic initiative called on volunteers from a number of doctors and others on Tuesday to get involved in the vaccination. One of its authors, dentist Radek Mounajjed, said at a press conference today that 1,016 of them have registered so far, of which 621 are doctors and 57 are pediatricians. They either report to help in vaccination centers or offer dedicated time in their surgeries, he added.
To date, healthcare professionals have provided approximately 13.69 million doses. 6.39 million people have completed vaccinations, and over a million people have received a booster dose.
