Weather in Salzburg at the weekend cloudy with snow and rain
Many parts of Austria are facing a mostly cloudy weekend.
Snow and rain are the order of the day
The Zentralanstalt für predicts snowfall and rain again and again Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) for the next few days. On Friday, thick clouds predominate at first, but they later give way to the sun.
Tough cloud fields in Salzburg
The cloud fields in Salzburg, Upper Austria and Upper Styria, where it initially snows lightly at times, are a bit tougher. The wind blows only weakly to moderate from west to northwest on Friday. The early temperatures will be minus eight to plus three degrees, the maximum daily temperatures zero to six degrees.
Danger of slipperiness in the west
A continuous warm front brings widespread dense clouds on Saturday and rain or snowfall set in from the west. The snow line rises rapidly to over 1,000 meters above sea level. In the western parts of the country in particular, there is initially a risk of slipperiness. In the east, light rain is not expected until the afternoon.
The south remains mostly dry
It is largely dry and sometimes sunny in the southern parts of the country. The wind blows mostly weak to moderate, but also lively in some areas, from west to south. The early temperatures reach minus nine to zero degrees, the maximum daily temperatures two to seven degrees, it is warmest in the extreme west.
Just in time for the first weekend in Advent, the weather has changed to wintry – but how sustainable is this …

Snow line on Sunday at 500 meters
In the area of a low pressure channel, the weather on Sunday is often cloudy, with snowfall and rain, with the main precipitation falling in the south and southeast. The snowfall line fluctuates around 500 meters, in the morning it is still around 800 meters above sea level in the south and east.
Relaxation to be expected
Sunny loosening during the day can only be expected in the west. The wind blows weak to moderate from southwest to northwest. The early temperatures will be around minus five to plus two degrees, during the day minus two to plus five degrees are expected.
What will the weather be like next week?
The new week starts mostly sunny in the eastern half. In the mountains there were still some residual clouds on Monday and the next disturbance is already approaching from the west. With this, clouds quickly move in and the last snowfall spreads over large parts of the northern edge of the Alps.
It remains free of precipitation in the south and east. When the wind is weak, the early temperatures are between minus seven and zero degrees, the maximum daily temperatures between zero and five degrees.
Tuesday mostly sunny
Tuesday is mostly sunny. In the beginning, however, residual clouds or fog fields are still noticeable above the lowlands. Except for a few unproductive snow showers in the mountains, it stays dry.
The wind is particularly strong on the eastern edge of the Alps, otherwise it only blows weakly to moderately from the northwest. In the morning it is widespread frosty with minus eight to minus one degree, the maximum daily temperatures will be reached with minus two to plus four degrees.
