“We’ve always thought about making tournaments differently.”
One of the largest organizers of tennis tournaments for young people within the club of the Czech Tennis Association LOB SA Bohnice comes up with a unique project for young athletes called Race to Wimbledon. Not only above-average young tennis players will take part in the tournaments, as usual. The organizers decided to raise funds for a different model of rewarding the participation of young players.
“We have always thought about how to make tournaments differently to differentiate ourselves from other clubs and semi-private entities that also organize these tournaments. During the covid period, we learned how negatively the whole situation affected sports youth. A large number of sports children have decreased. Our club had to cancel 35 percent of all tournaments in the summer due to a lack of entries. The other organizers were the same, “ describes the reasons for organizing a series of tournaments of the sports director of the tennis club LOB SA Bohnice Jiří Knížek.

Hundreds of thousands of awards are prepared for players
Race to Wimbledon counts a total of eight tournaments, which will be hosted by the Bohnice tennis complex. “We have created a series of tournaments according to age categories, younger pupils, younger pupils, older pupils, older pupils, adolescents, adolescents and baby tennis, where boys play girls together as in mini tennis. The players collect the body in the rankings and at the end of the whole tour, the five most successful will always be awarded, “ Knížek describes the system of awarding players and players.
“In total, we will distribute 50 thousand crowns in the form of collection vouchers for sporting goods in each category, where the winner takes 20 thousand crowns. Given that there are eight categories, we will divide this into a price of 400 thousand crowns. Another 100,000 will be awarded trophies for the top five in each category. “ Knížek counts.
Five winners will go to Wimbledon
In order to get the tournament into the field of view of young athletes, the organizers came up with another way of rewarding the participants. “Each player who enters the match and finishes it will receive a virtual token. In each age category, the players add up the chips and a draw takes place at the end of the period. This time, the age categories are common for both girls and boys. In the course of May 2022, we will draw five winners at the closing ceremony, who will receive a four-day voucher to visit Wimbledon 2022 for two people, so that their parents can also travel with the children. ” presented the enticing award of Jiří Knížek
In order for a player to earn chips and points in a tournament, he must also play doubles. It is common practice for a player to drop out in the first round, the game ends for him and he goes home. “But we want him to come and play sports with every opportunity,” Knížek described the reasons why a player must play a doubles match in order to gain points and chips.
Rewards are also prepared for fans
The organizers are also preparing additional rewards for fans, who can take part in a telephone competition, where they will answer a simple question from last weekend’s tournament. Each subsequent ATS Praha company will draw one winner, who will receive a souvenir and will qualify for the final draw also during the May show. Of these eighteen winners, three will be drawn to receive truly valuable prizes, the first prize being again a voucher at Wimbledon for two people.
“We will transfer the funds we receive from the telephone competition to support palliative care for the dying. For this reason, we also want to ask the representatives of all three operators, O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone, if they are willing to support our project and initially, which they charge for SMS within the services, transferred to this godly event, “ described Knížek.
Due to the fact that the project of the City Hall of Prague 8 will take place the final show at the Libeň Chateau. “Deputy for Sports Jiří Vítek (Patriots for Prague 8) made our event clear and was very helpful and helpful. At the end, a super winner will be drawn at this event, who will receive a VIP program when visiting Wimbledon. They were very honored if we made this final ticket Jan Kodeš, the winner of Wimbledon 1973, who liked our project, “ closed Jiří Knížek.
