Threats to night emergencies in Moissac: the Occitanie region and the Toulouse University Hospital mobilized to find solutions
Prof. Vincent Bounes, vice-president in charge of health for the Occitanie region and director of Samu 31, will visit the hospital in Moissac (Tarn-et-Garonne) on November 30 to meet the staff and management after the announcements made by the regional health agency (ARS) to close the emergency department of the Tarn-et-Garonnais establishment from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. as of December 1.
Professor Vincent Bounes, vice-president in charge of health of the Occitanie regional council, announced in our columns on November 24 the release of exceptional equipment credits allocated to the emergency departments of the Moissac hospital center, faced with difficulties in recruiting medical personnel.
The Toulouse university hospital center (CHU) wishes to clarify: “the commitment that will be its short term to support the teams of the Moissac hospital. Given the strong emergency activity in the Toulouse metropolis, it will not be able to assign teams to restart the medicalization of the night. On the other hand, it is joining forces with establishments near Moissac to support the closure of emergencies from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., from December 1, through reinforced SMUR and heliSMUR support, as already presented on November 9 by the territorial emergency team of Tarn-et-Garonne and the regional health agency (ARS) during a meeting in the presence of elected officials.
A support team of emergency responders
In the medium term, the work in progress with the ARS opens up prospects for the gradual constitution of a team of emergency responders, intended to intervene in support of areas in specific difficulties, in addition to more sustainable efforts to reconstitute “Teams of practitioners in sufficient number to medicalize emergencies in certain areas currently in difficulty. “
At the same time, Prof. Vincent Bounes will meet with staff representatives and the emergency department at Moissac hospital on Tuesday, November 30. He will be accompanied in particular by Isabelle Laveron, regional advisor, and Marie Castro, vice-president of the region.
