The increase in the number of people with covid was again a record on Thursday

Prague – The coronavirus epidemic in the Czech Republic continues to grow. On Thursday, there were 27,717 proven cases of covid-19. This is more than double the same day as the previous week and a new daily maximum since the beginning of the epidemic. There are over 6,000 people in hospitals infected with the new type of coronavirus. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health.
Record profits of proven cases coronavirus infections recorded statistics three times in the last week. For the first time on Friday, November 19, when tests revealed almost 23,000 cases, the second this Tuesday with 25,900 cases and the third on Thursday.
A total of 131,700 people have fallen ill in the last seven days and 323,600 since the beginning of this month. For the whole of October, there were 73,200 cases.
The weekly incidence thus rose to a new record. There are 1231 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. That was 384 fewer cases last Thursday.
The worst epidemic situation is in the east of the Czech Republic. In the Olomouc Region, there are over 1,700 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week, in the Zlín Region 1561 and in the South Moravian Region 1474 cases.
On the contrary, the lowest weekly incidence is reported by the Karlovy Vary region with 476 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The Liberec, Hradec Králové and Ústí nad Labem regions also have an incidence number lower than 1000.
Of the districts, the Prostějov region is the worst, with more than 1920 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week. both Olomouc and Sumpersk, the same as 1790 cases. At the opposite end of the district ranking according to the weekly incidence is the Sokolovsko region with less than 400 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Laboratories in the Czech Republic checked 105,000 samples for coronavirus on Thursday, according to ongoing data, which would be about 9,000 less than a week ago. However, the data on the performed tests from the previous day are reflected in the statistics with a delay.
For the most used preventive and area tests, 12.4 percent of samples were positive on Thursday, compared to five percent a week ago. In the case of an epidemiological indication, when people are tested for contact with the infected, the proportion of infected has doubled in the week from 13 percent. In the so-called diagnostic indication, when people showing symptoms are tested, almost 55 percent of those tested were positive this Thursday. That’s about 25 percentage points more than a week ago and the most since testing began last September.
According to the latest data, there are 6024 patients in the hospitals with a positive test for covid, the condition of 895 of them is assessed by doctors as severe. Compared to Wednesday hospitalization, there was a decrease of about a hundred. Compared to the Thursday of the previous week, on the other hand, 854 covid patients increased. The last time the numbers were hospitalized was this high at the beginning of April this year.
More than two million people have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus in the Czech Republic since last March. 32,643 of them died. Since the beginning of November, the number of deaths has risen by 1,780, an average of 71 cases per day. The average for the last week is 95 deaths per day.
Vaccination may prevent severe covid-19 disease On Thursday, doctors administered 58,600 doses of vaccination, 7,600 more than a week ago. A total of 13.27 million doses have been administered so far, of which 737,000 are booster doses.
More than 6.3 million people in the Czech Republic have completed vaccinations.
