Yesterday, the Prague Regional Association of the ODS sent to journalists photos of waste scattered around some garbage cans and a press release in which the Deputy Mayor of Prague 2, Alexandra Udženija (ODS) and the chairman of the ODS House of Representatives Zdeněk Zajíček (ODS) …

Just look at the clutter at the waste sorting sites. In many places in Prague crowded baskets and clutter on the streets, just trash hell. Mr. Hlubuček should seriously think about the state of the environment, cleanliness and order in Prague. Maybe in the beginning, it would be enough to manage a simple clean-up before embarking on hundreds of millions of investments according to an unrealistic climate plan.
The problem is mainly that during the pandemic, waste increased, especially the packaging materials that Praguers try to place and visit Prague in bins and waste bins that overflow. Instead, the cleaning budget and collection frequency are reduced. In addition, households have to pay almost twice as much for this service since the new year.
That not a single responsible name can do anything is incomprehensible and alarming. Street clutter needs to be cleaned up immediately and a waste collection system set up that will work.
Ondřej Prokop (chairman of the YES 2011 club)
In my opinion, yes, Prague is flooded with waste and the mayor flies to a foreign trip instead of dealing with it. Recently, he boasted again on social networks that up to 6,000 containers will be equipped by the city to report their performance. Praguers flood the city with piles of overflowing containers, bins and bins. At the last council meeting, we wanted to provoke a discussion on this issue and start tackling it acutely. Mayor Hřib did not even attend the meeting and his coalition partners swept everything the opposition wanted to discuss.
In general, I am a supporter of smart solutions, but they have to come only when the collection of municipal waste will work. I would rather invest the amount that the sensors have in the more frequent export of container stands. And I would certainly not pass on the increase in the cost of waste collection to citizens in these difficult times. Prague can temporarily allow waste to temporarily leave export fees at the level of this year and subsidize the difference from the city budget reserve.

We would like to stay with the current “differentiated” waste collection prices. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the law on waste management has been changed, this is not possible. The state is pushing us to change the decree and set a uniform rate per liter of waste. Everything then comes from that.
Representatives of the embassy clubs in Prague and TOP 09 and STAN – United Forces for Prague did not answer the editors’ question.
