probable call from citizens’ groups
The case was tried at the Lyon administrative court. @WilliamPham
The 500 victims of “Angry Lyon” and “Angry Presqu’Ile” go “probably” appeal against the decisions of the administrative court of Lyon. They regret the observation of the powerlessness of political leaders.
“We believe that these judgments will fuel the doubts of residents about the capacity of the authorities to respond effectively to the evil that is plaguing society.”
Following the decisions of the administrative court of Lyon declaring itself incompetent on the appeals brought by “Lyon in anger” and “Presqu’ile in anger”, due to nuisances linked to motorized rodeos and acts of incivility in Lyon and Villeurbanne, the ‘lawyer for local residents’ and traders’ groups responded in the press.
“It will not be for lack of alerting officials, all political labels combined.”
Me Edouard Raffin, lawyer of the collectives
“It will not be for lack of having alerted the officials, all political labels confused, for three years. We are told that the mayor is not competent, yet he is acting. We are told that the prefect reacts while the disorders worsen . This finding of powerlessness feeds an anger which can give way, unfortunately, to the sirens of extreme candidates with simplistic and divisive proposals, even to dishonorable remarks in an election period of prime importance. We deeply deplore it. “
Me Edouard Raffin underlines that without this collective action of 500 victims, the prefect would not have “no doubt not carried out any additional operations in 2020 and 2021 and more particularly set up the operation coup de net in Guillotière on November 16, 2021 or challenge” daltons “after their two rodeos in the Presqu’île.”
“Without the efforts of residents (…) Gérald Darmanin might not have sent 300 police officers.”
Me Edouard Raffin, lawyer of the collectives
The lawyer adds, at the conclusion of his press release, that “without the efforts of the residents, who have been able to keep their calm and unwavering determination since 2019, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, might not have made the commitment, during our procedure, to send 300 additional national police officers over three years in the metropolitan area (including +100 officers in December). “
