Jump into the skates. Brno is already freezing the rink
Those interested can visit the two outdoor ice rinks this Advent weekend in Znojmo. “The popular ice rink on Sokolská Street will open its gate on Saturday at eight o’clock in the morning and the ice rink with an artificial surface on Horní náměstí at nine o’clock. They will be in operation until seven and eight in the evening, “confirmed Simona Chmelíková from the communication department of the local town hall.
While the artificial ice rink on Horní náměstí in the center of Znojmo is free for visitors, skaters pay fifty crowns to enter the ice rink on Sokolská Street. Except for children under six years.
Refreshments, lockers and skating will be available.
Every Sunday evening, fans of sharp edges can also use the classic ice at the local ice rink.
The people of Brno have been skating in the open air near the Vodov hall since Friday, and also for Lužánky for the first time on Saturday. “Unless government conditions and regulations change, both ice rinks will remain open until February. Strengthening the immunity and defense of sports is more important than ever during the coronavirus pandemic, “said Petr Hladík, First Deputy Mayor of Brno.
Both ice rinks will be open all week, on weekdays from three in the afternoon to eight o’clock in the evening. On weekends, the first ice skaters can visit at nine in the morning. However, unsuitable weather may change the scheduled opening dates.
The ice surface of Vodov corresponds to the size of a hockey field. “It can also be booked by schools for teaching or teams for hobby hockey,” said Martin Mikš, general director of the city company Starez Sport, which operates artificial ice rinks.
On both Brno ice rinks, visitors will find facilities with changing rooms, lockers and refreshments, as well as skates.
David Komenda, for example, welcomes the winter ice rink. “I have two little daughters, we’ll go check to see if we can still skate. We haven’t stood on them for two years, “Brno said.
In the Hodonín region, skaters can enjoy the ice rink in Veselí nad Moravou. On the first weekend of Advent, the city ice rink in the city center at Panský dvor, on the site of the beach volleyball court, starts operating there at two o’clock in the afternoon.
The ice rink in the Kyjov City Stadium will open a week later, on Saturday 4 December.
In the Vysočina region, the Christmas ice rink in Humpolec in Stromovka Park will be ceremoniously opened on Saturday at ten o’clock in the morning. Visitors there can also compete for the most beautiful costume inspired by Czech Christmas. “While a sharpened blade is a must for artificial ice, it does not include pucks and hockey sticks,” said Nikola Soukupová from the Humpolec Technical Services, which operate the rink, on behalf of the organizers.
The winter stadium will also be in full operation, where children from the age of four can learn to skate under the supervision of coaches.
