When he left Muret detention center, Fettah Malki had not quite regained his freedom. He had been taken to the Cornebarrieu administrative detention center. The French state wanted this Franco-Algerian to leave for his country of birth. A country he left when he was 10 years old to come and grow up in Toulouse, in the Izards district. It was there that he met Mohammed Merah to whom he provided a weapon and a bulletproof vest. The terrorist had perpetrated three attacks in March 2012 in Toulouse and Montauban. Seven people including three children were killed by the jihadist.
The Algerian state did not wish to grant a visa to Fettah Malki who therefore came out free under judicial supervision.
This Monday, it will no longer be the “Merah affair” but the Malki case before the Toulouse Criminal Court where he will be tried unless he asks for a deadline to prepare his defense. In this case, the judges will decide whether or not to keep him in detention.
