Flick and Floyd, two police dogs from Toulouse have just been decorated for an act of courage and dedication. Now retired, they have an impressive record of service.
The flair of this unlike other policeman has hurt drug dealers across the region in recent years. At the time of his retirement, he has just received the medal for an act of courage and dedication.
In nine years of service, Flick, a 40 kg Malinois, has built an impressive record of service. Specializing in the search for narcotics and cash, he did not disappoint. More than four tons of cannabis resin, two tons of weed, hundreds of kilos of cocaine and heroin… Flick’s flair has allowed his police officers to seize 15 million euros worth of drugs.
Nice catches also for the cash since two million euros of cash came from the underground economy could be found. “He’s an exceptional dog,” says Roland, his handler, who bought him as a baby and trained him. I realized that he had great skills ”.
Flick’s career is marked by a thousand anecdotes. “While on a security mission in Albi, he suddenly took on a smell,” Roland remembers. He made me walk 500 meters through the streets to reach a building where he marked the air vents. It was the seal room of the tribunal… ”
100,000 € in the head of a child’s bed

Flick is also a ton of drugs seized at once, 100,000 € discovered in the tube of a television set and 100,000 € in the head of a child’s bed. “The person could not believe it,” smiles Roland, very proud of his partner who is now enjoying a peaceful retirement by his side.
In his career, Flick crossed paths with another elite dog. Floyd. He too has just been decorated for an act of courage and dedication. This defense and intervention dog only worked at night. “He’s a sociable patrol dog that could turn into a war dog.” With its driver, David, they skimmed the Toulouse nights and avoided tragedies.
“One evening, he intervened in an attempted homicide with a knife on the porter of a bar on the Pont-Neuf side. It made it possible to control the aggressor ”. Another setting, the same violent situation in a Travelers’ camp. “A man was being lynched with shovels. Grenade fire was pointless. He managed to avoid the worst ”.
These decorations for courage and dedication were not the first in Flick and Floyd’s careers. In 2016, they received the medal from the city of Toulouse. Now retired, the two four-legged policemen have given way to youth. “With Nelko, it is the assured succession of Flick”, considers Roland.
