Ladies 1 takes points in Amsterdam | The Compass Hardinxveld-Giessendam
On Saturday, the Hoek en Blok formation traveled to Amsterdam to play against North Side ballers, the last of the competition. The only thing we knew in advance was that these ladies had lost until now, but this also offers no guarantee.
The ladies of the Hoek and Blok were not complete this match and set up the field without Marjoleine, Karin and Jovana. The coaches therefore appealed to Marjolein van Genderen so that we had enough ladies on the bench. Thank you for your efforts Marjolein!
The match started with Esmee, Marion, Joƫlla, Esmey and Evianne. The Amsterdam ladies started to defend in a zone that even made it difficult for us to find the holes. We soon saw where the holes were and we easily succeeded. The first quarter ended in a minor of 7-29. What we also knew for sure after this was that it was going to be a quarter game and that the umpires seemed to have left their whistles at home.
The first casualty of this match fell fairly quickly in the 2nd quarter. Evianne broke her ankle and for her it was the end of the competition. Defensively and to find the ladies of the Corner. Fortunately, we also discover the net on the other side and we started the break with 19-49.
The 3rd quarter was a bit disturbed. In the battle for space, and a slow transition to hastily played attacks kept the attack from expanding this quarter.
The fourth quarter started with some expansion of coaches Davor and Rudy. Unfortunately, the second victim of this match soon fell. Esmey de Haas injured her ankle during an inside action, also shortened it before her end of competition. The assignment to play attacks smartly and especially to passenger to prevent further injuries.
Final score: 34-75
The next match is on December 4 in sports hall De Wielewaal against LC Players. Hopefully there will be opportunities again in the selection.
