AMSTERDAM – VV Buitenpost won 0-1 against AVV Swift on Saturday. Max Huiskamp was the match winner in Amsterdam. Given the odds ratio, the Blauwkes got more than they deserved. “Sometimes it’s bad, but now it wasn’t too bad, also thanks to the fantastic spirit of the boys. They have fought like lions. And Kevin van der Meulen has scored great”, said Buitenpost trainer Willem Brouwer. With the win, Buitenpost climbs to sixth place in the ranking.
The opening stage was for Swift. The first chance, a header from the team from Amsterdam, just went over. After that, Buitenpost was dangerous from a counter via Mark van der Meer, but the keeper was alert and earlier at the ball. After half an hour of football, more balance came into play. Still, Swift should have scored at that point. A shot was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Kevin van der Meulen. Later, two shots were fired at the goal from a scrimmage, but Van der Meulen stood in the way.
Dangerous Outbreaks
At halftime, Berend Schootstra and Rolf Dijk were left behind in the dressing room. They were replaced by Wessel van der Galiën and Jorn Jongsma. After a few minutes, Swift had another chance. A brilliant free kick landed on the crossbar. Then it was Outpost’s turn. An attack ran through Rob Schokker. He puts the ball neatly wide on the Max Huiskamp who came along. The midfielder then rounds off nicely. Outpost hadn’t been able to finish yet. Twice was a dangerous outbreak. Both Schokker and Jongsma were unable to capitalize on these opportunities. The technically skilled Swift continued to insist. However, the team did not come up with many opportunities that were played out. Even during the final offensive of the team from Amsterdam, Buitenpost remained strong. However, there was luck that a header from Swift just flew over the crossbar a few minutes before the end.
Team performance
“The discharge was great afterwards. These are bonus points against a good one. Good, they have had more chances, but we have made a goal,” said trainer Brouwer. “It was a pure team effort and we played well together. And good to see that we have a fit squad. We are in good shape with sixteen points from eleven games. Now to collect some points in the two home games. It is a pity that there is no audience allowed.” On Saturday, Buitenpost will play against HZVV at De Swadde. Three days later there is another home game. Then the duel against Berkum is overtaken. That match, on Tuesday 30 November, starts at 8.15 pm.
