Rotterdam, the Netherlands, is normally a modern port city. On Saturdays, however, its streets are more like battlefields. Sports fans in the Netherlands have a hard time. They will not get to the popular match due to a partial lockdown, and when the deadline is over, the local government is considering stopping accepting the tests. Fans are protesting.

The Dutch government has announced a partial lockdown, which also applies to major sporting events. They will be without spectators for at least the next three weeks, as already known by the Dutch football representatives in the key qualifying match for the World Cup against Norway.
It was the Rotterdam De Kuip Stadium that was empty. The Dutch, not just a number of football fans, immediately began to protest against it. Politics even protested, threw pyrotechnics and set cars on fire and bicycles, used water cannons, shut down public transport, drove people home.
There were not only sports fans in the streets, but demonstrators in the club colors of Feyenoord Rotterdam often appear in the videos.
The riots in the streets were, of course, condemned by Dutch sports figures, but most did not agree with the government’s decision to close the stadiums. Most sports associations, including the Dutch Football Association, have also criticized it.
The management of the Dutch Football League considered that it would interrupt the league during the lockdown period, but in the end it will be played.

V Nizozemsku jsou nejaktivnější čtyři kluby – Utrecht, Haag, Feyenoord a Ajax Amsterdam. Utrecht, Haag i Feyenoord leží kousek od sebe, tam je rivalita spíš regionální; mezi Rotterdamem a Amsterdamem má hlubší kořeny.
V Amsterdamu žijí spíš „elity“ – vzdělanci, vysokoškoláci, lidé s vysokým příjmem, naopak Rotterdam jako přístav je tradičně městem dělnickým. Mezi oběma fanouškovskými tábory každopádně planou velké emoce – i kvůli sporům o království. Nizozemští králové a královny měli dlouho sídlo v Rotterdamu, později se přesunuli do Amsterdamu, což rivalitu ještě víc rozdmýchalo.
Záplavu nizozemských fotbalových příznivců by Praha měla zažít už příští týden, kdy pražská Slavia doma nastoupí právě proti Feyenoordu Rotterdam v Evropské konferenční lize.
Slavia pro utkání omezila kapacitu, takže není jisté, kolik fanoušků hostů se na tribuny dostane, přesto se dá ve čtvrtek večer ve Vršovicích očekávat hodně bouřlivá atmosféra.
