Coronavirus in Prague: There were 7809 cases in a week
Tests in Prague last week revealed 11,000 cases of coronavirus, about 40 percent more than a week earlier, when 7813 people had been diagnosed in seven days. The number of new infections per week per 100,000 inhabitants increased to 824, a week earlier the so-called incidence was 585. The number of hospitalized with covid-19 and deaths from this disease is also growing. This follows from information on the website of the Ministry of Health and from the hospital’s data.
On all days with notice Sunday in the past week, the daily increments of coronavirus cases in the capital exceeded one thousand. On Tuesday, the number of newly confirmed infections reached 2,722, which was the most in Prague in one day. Previously, the number of cases in the metropolis exceeded 2,000 only four times, twice at the turn of the year, once in the second half of February and once in early March.
With covid-19 in Prague 44 people have died in the past seven days, a week earlier, there were 38 deaths. On Monday, 14 people died with coronavirus in the capital, more than ten for the first time since mid-April. From Prague hospitals, for example, at the University Hospital Bulovka was with covid-19 on Thursday 82 people, at the end of October it was about a quarter of that number. Prague was on Monday, November 15 among 22 districts out of 77 in the Czech Republic, where primary and secondary school students tested for coronavirus. The results of testing have not yet been published by the Ministry of Health, but according to some school principals, quarantine classes are increasing, although the infection is often detected in schoolchildren outside of school testing. The government ordered the next two Mondays area tests in schools, they will probably continue after that. Testing does not apply to vaccinated children; 94,000 pupils were tested in Prague in the last term. There are also more infections among Prague firefighters, police officers and paramedics.
Since the beginning of the epidemic last March, the capital 226,606 people have been shown to have infected the new type of coronavirus. Most of them were cured, 2899 people with a proven covid died. Since the start of vaccination at the end of last December, more than 2.4 million doses of vaccination have been given in the capital. In the last week of medical staff in Prague, about 43,600 doses were issued, in a week-on-week comparison about 8,000 less. The decline is probably due to Wednesday’s national holiday, less is usually expected on holidays.
