Russia plans to buy potatoes in the CIS – RBK

The Ministry of Agriculture will come to an agreement with suppliers from the CIS on the purchase of potatoes for raising prices. This follows from the letter of the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut to the apparatus and the Cabinet of Ministers, the government informs the newspaper “Izvestia” with a link to the text of the letter.
In this letter, Lut reports that potato prices have risen to 23 rubles. per 1 kg, which is 71.4% higher than last year’s prices. In addition, the cost of carrots (by 44%) and cabbage (by 70%) increased. According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture, the rise in prices for potatoes is associated with difficulties in harvesting them, which arose due to bad weather.
In this regard, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with a proposal to take a number of measures: the Ministry of Industry and Trade to agree with a supplier from suppliers, as well as to organize work on growing Russians in the gardens, in order to send it for sale later. This should help reduce the prices of potatoes and replace expensive potatoes from non-CIS countries with cheaper ones from CIS countries.
The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade told RBC that now in retail chains, vegetables of a borsch set, which include potatoes, carrots, cabbage, beets, etc., of domestic production are being sold in retail chains available to the population.
