DIJON: Installation of a new work by Daniel Buren rue des Godrans
A floor 35 meters long is installed in the garden of the Banque de France. From the rue des Godrans, the cone of vision makes the junction with the roof with glazed tiles.
“Bottom-up point of view, work in situ 2021”, such is the title of the work of the French artist Daniel Buren being built in the garden of the Banque de France and visible from the rue des Godrans.
This Tuesday, November 17, 2021, the installation was almost complete. The inauguration is scheduled for November 26th.
This off-site project is organized by the Interface association. According to the association, Daniel Buren’s project follows the focal point of the viewer’s gaze from the single median point of view on rue des Godrans. This “cone of vision” determines the shape of the long flared floor installed on the grass, running 35 meters in the depth of the park before rising abruptly in the middle of the garden according to the same slope as that of the roof of the mansion of the 17th century.
The pattern reproduced on the structure is inspired by the typically Burgundy trim of the glazed tile roof. The original layout of the nested diamonds combines with the vocabulary of Daniel Buren made of alternating bands (8.7 cm wide) and flat colors, creating a new accord.
