The people of Prague use the bikes for free even in the cold store, there were 30,000 loans
The first day that public transport subscribers in Prague could borrow shared bicycles was October 11. In the first month, 11,000 users activated the possibility of renting bicycles in the Lítačka application. 5,600 of them used the loans.
This follows from data published by the municipal companies ROPID (Regional Organizer of Prague Integrated Transport).
“It simply came to our notice then. In the spring, we will evaluate the pilot project and see if and how we continue. We want to make the ‘first and last mile’ of their journeys through Prague easier for people and make long-term public transport coupons even more attractive. That is why we have started to add bicycle stands to the metro station on a large scale and we are also preparing them at tram interchanges, “said Deputy Mayor for Transport Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě) about the ongoing evaluation.
Users of Lítačka have 15 minutes free to rent bicycles from Rekola and Nextbike. They can use it up to four times a day.
Most people rented bikes for three to eight minutes. The record day in bicycle rental via Lítačka was November 9, when the application recorded 1,600 loans.
People use the opportunity to change bicycles the most in public transport hubs, where the metro, tram stops and trains are connected.
“Namely, the most common points for renting and returning bicycles are the Vltavská metro station, Nádraží Holešovice, Výstaviště, Strossmayerovo náměstí, Hlavní nádraží, Masarykovo nádraží and also the surroundings of university campuses in Dejvice or Holešovice,” said Prague Integrated Transport spokesman Filip Drápal.
Bicycle rental is free for all holders of electronic tickets for the territory of Prague with an account in the Lítačka application. The applications must then be linked to the shared bike applications.
The trial operation will work until the amount of 2.4 million crowns allocated by the Prague City Hall for the project is exhausted. ROPID director Petr Tomčík has previously stated that the city will pay about 12 crowns for renting a bike through Lítačka.
