Travel warning hits small border traffic – salzburg.ORF.at

The classification of Austria as a high-risk area from Sunday – which equates to a travel warning – also has an impact on small border traffic between Salzburg – for example, for trips across the small German corner or for shopping in neighboring Freilassing (Bavaria).
For Salzburg tourism, the classification as a high-risk area and the associated travel warning by the German authorities is a serious economic setback.
Although this does not mean a travel ban, it should above all discourage people who have not been fully vaccinated or who have recovered from a vacation in Salzburg, if this is combined with a ten-day quarantine after returning home with a test after five days at the earliest.
“Exception for small border traffic under 24 hours”
This should not change anything between Salzburg and Bavaria, for example for schoolchildren or commuters, says spokeswoman for the district office in Bad Reichenhall, Alexandra Rothenbuchner.
“The federal CoV entry regulation still applies to us. According to this, there is still an exception for small border traffic, namely for small border traffic under 24 hours. If you stay in the neighboring country for less than 24 hours, there is an exception to both the registration requirement and the separation requirement. So nothing changes compared to the restrictions. “
“Distance covered does not matter”
The distance that commuters travel does not matter – only the 24-hour time limit is decisive. The provisions are to continue to be checked randomly by the German Federal Police, i.e. a Bavarian police spokesman.
